At our first meeting of the year, the Trustees of the Birmingham Education Foundation awarded $13,300 in grants to teachers and schools across our district. Grants included:
  • $5,000 in general support for the Birmingham FIRST Robotics Team: Team 2960 - Automation Nation, which is comprised of students from both Groves and Seaholm
  • $3,000 to bring artist Steve Harpster to all elementary and middle schools to give the latest version of his Harptoons presentation, which combines illustration with literacy
  • $2,200 to support bringing a speaker from Mental Illness Needs Discussion to visit all health classes at both Seaholm and Groves
  • $2,100 which will assist the Groves Choir as they travel to Choir Camp this weekend
  • $1,000 to bring mentors from Wayne State University to Groves to work with the high school choir

Thank you to all of our donors who have made these exciting experiences possible for BPS students!
